I read this article last year and it really only became relevant to my life over the past couple of months. Xavier was an AMAZING eater- he LOVED all new tastes- he even preferred lemons to strawberries. He’s eat fruits, veggies, meat, sweet, salty, spicy-whatever.
He’s now entered the terrible twos (which luckily for me are not THAT terrible yet) but the picky eating has begun. He no longer eats meat or veggies unless disguised in either a puree or carb (waffle, muffin or pasta). He tries his darnedest to survive on “Fruit Squeezies” alone. I only buy the ones with veggies and/or are a four square meal to relieve my guilt when he gets more than two a day. Aside from those I am trying to not build the habit that there are kid foods and grown up foods. I make him toddler-sized sometimes deconstructed or mashed up versions of what I am eating and at restaurants we do not order from the kids menu, we make him a plate of combined things we are eating (which helps us eat less as well).
What does your child refuse to eat? What has been working for you?
